Seller performance standards, currently required in the US, UK and Germany, help highlight sellers who consistently offer excellent service. Starting in May 2011, minimum selling standards will be put in place across all eBay sites around the world. If you sell items to buyers outside the US, UK or Germany, you can now get more information about your global sales through your Seller Dashboard.
- Sellers who sell internationally can now get insight into the service they deliver to buyers from other countries around the world , in addition to US, UK and Germany (DE). With this insight, you can take steps to improve your ratings in those countries and your international sales.
- Today, sellers who sell to buyers in the US, UK and Germany are required to meet the minimum seller standards for those countries. Starting May 20 (US Pacific Time), to sell into other countries besides these three, sellers will also be required to meet new minimum Global Standards . The Global standards allow for the extra time and cost of cross-border shipping.
- Later this year, you'll also be able to reach eBay Top-rated seller status in Canada, Australia, France and Italy, based on your Global performance rating.
- The minimum standards for US /UK/DE are not changing. As always, your US /UK/DE seller performance rating and rewards will continue to be based on your transactions with US /UK/DE buyers only.
- As is the case today, your eligibility for eBay Top-rated seller status in the US, UK and Germany will continue to be based on your performance rating for each of those three countries.

- Beginning today, check your Seller Dashboard for your DSRs for transactions with buyers outside the US, UK and Germany. If you do not sell to any countries besides US, UK and Germany, you will not see any change to your dashboard.

- If you sell internationally and find you have some low DSRs, run a DSR report by country to find the source. If these scores are having a material impact on your Global standards, consider making changes to your service to those countries.

Why is eBay creating Global Standards?
Until now, only the US, UK and Germany have had comprehensive seller performance standards. (Some sites, such as Canada, have minimum DSR requirements for sellers). The new Global performance standards will provide clear minimum standards for sellers across all eBay sites.

What transactions are counted toward the various ratings I see on my Seller Dashboard?
Your US, UK and Germany ratings are based only on transactions with buyers in those countries. Your Global rating is based on your transactions with all buyers globally, including US, UK, Germany, and all other countries. For instance, if you sell to US and Canadian buyers, your US rating will be based only on transactions with US buyers, while your Global rating will be based on your transactions with US and Canadian buyers.
Can I become a Top-rated seller on other eBay sites?
You can become a Top-rated seller in the US, UK, and Germany based on your transactions with buyers in those countries. For example, if you are a seller in Asia selling to the UK, you can qualify for UK Top-rated seller status based on your UK performance rating, which is based on your transactions with UK buyers.
Top-rated seller programs will launch later this year in Canada, Australia, France and Italy. International sellers who meet Top-rated seller requirements based on Global standards will receive promotion in search and the Top-rated seller badge on these eBay sites. What factors are included in my Global performance rating?
Your Global performance rating is based on the number of low Detailed Seller Ratings (1s and 2s) you receive from buyers worldwide. You'll be able to see your instances of 1s and 2s on Detailed Seller Ratings for any Global transactions in the
Seller Dashboard starting today. Your 1s and 2s will count toward your Global rating starting May 20 ( US Pacific Time ) .
Are Buyer Protection cases counted in my Global performance rating?
No, Buyer Protection cases are not counted toward your Global performance rating at this time.

Is anything changing with my performance standards on the US, UK or DE sites?
Nothing is changing with your performance standards on these sites. For example, your US performance standing will continue to be evaluated on your transactions with US buyers only.
What happens if I fall below the Global standards?
Starting May 20, 2010 (US Pacific Time) , sellers who sell internationally and do not meet the minimum Global standards will be demoted in search on sites outside of the US, UK, and Germany.
Could my Global performance rating ever impact my rating as a seller on the US, UK and DE sites?
In rare cases, sellers who fall severely below the minimum Global standards and have a significant portion of their sales in the Global market may face consequences on all the sites on which they list, including the US, UK and DE.
How can I improve my seller performance standards globally?
It's important to meet buyer expectations in every market in which you sell. Here are some steps you can take to improve your standing:
- Review your Seller Dashboard for details on what's impacting your seller performance. View your performance in all markets (including US, UK, Germany, and Global) in the Seller Performance pages of your Seller Dashboard to find opportunities for improvement.
- Review any negative and neutral Feedback comments to see if buyers have identified specific issues. If you find that buyers mention customs as being the main issue, ensure that your listings clearly advise international buyers that they may experience delivery delays due to customs. - If buyers identify shipping time as an issue, try using an international expedited shipping method and specifying these costs in your listings. Using a method that offers international tracking lets your buyer know where the item is while in transit, including whether it is being held by customs.

Can I be a Top-rated seller in one market, but not meet minimum standards in another?
Yes, it is possible for you to be Top-rated in one market but not meet minimum standards for other markets. As always, it's important to work toward meeting minimum standards in all the markets in which you sell.
I only sell to US, UK or DE buyers. What do Global standards mean for me?
Global standards will not appear in your Seller Dashboard until you have sales with buyers outside the US, UK ,or DE. If you begin offering items to buyers outside these countries, you'll see your ratings for Global transactions begin to appear in your Seller Dashboard.
I used to be Above Standard in the US, but now I am Standard – even though my performance has not changed. What does it mean to be Standard versus Above Standard?
Previously, all sellers offering items to buyers in the US who are either Standard and Above Standard were shown as Above Standard in the Seller Dashboard. However, these two levels have always had slightly different criteria. The only change is that you can now see which level you are actually achieving.
Both Above Standard and Standard seller performance levels have the same requirements for the rates/counts of 1s and 2s on DSRs. However, Above Standard also requires a minimum average DSR of 4.60 across all four DSRs, as well as 100 or more transactions over the past 12 months.
