Promoting Your eBay Store Overview

Making buyers aware of your eBay Store and your Store Inventory items is the key to your success. Here are some ways to promote your Store:

Promoting your Store on eBay

  • Make the most of your Auction-style and Fixed Price listings
The most successful eBay Store sellers bring buyers to their Store through their online auction and Fixed Price listings, which appear in regular searches and categories on eBay. In your item descriptions, include links to pages in your Store such as: the homepage, Store categories, Store Inventory items, and so forth. Use the listing header to incorporate your Store's visuals (colours, logo, and theme) as well as links to your other Store pages and categories in all of your item descriptions.
Note: You can send items from your existing Store Inventory listings to new Auction-style or Fixed Price listings.

  • Take advantage of Store marketing tools.

eBay offers a number of marketing tools that you can use to promote your store including email marketing, a customised listing header, promotional flyers, cross-promotions and listing feeds. You can access these tools by clicking the Marketing Tools link in My eBay.

  • Custom listing header
Set up your own banner, called a listing header, on your Store to promote your Store on listings and to brand your Store and further enhance the buyer experience.

  • eBay Keywords
eBay Keywords is an effective way for sellers to drive buyers and increase sales for their eBay Store. The program allows sellers to create and manage their own keyword targeted advertising campaigns. When a user performs a search, the results display the advertiser’s ad unit at the top of the page.

  • Use your About Me page
Create an About Me page and devote it to your Store: describe your business, include links to your Store, incorporate your Store's visuals, and so forth. Once you create this page, users can click the "me" icon that always appears next to your User ID to learn more about you.

  • Upgrade your subscription

Upgrade your subscription level for more exposure on eBay Stores search pages, as well as other parts of eBay.

  • Include your Store name in Discussion Board posts
When you communicate with other members of the eBay Community on eBay's Discussion Boards, include your Store name and URL as part of your signature.

Promoting your Store outside of eBay

  • Promote your Store in emails and printed materials
Always include your Store name and URL, and your branding elements (theme, colours, logo) in all your correspondence with buyers (such as emails and packing slips), as well as advertisements. Also, take advantage of your Store’s email marketing newsletters, which you can use to send customised email campaigns to your buyers. Create a promotional flyer to include in your packages when sending them out to customers.

  • Optimise your Store for Internet search engines
Match the text in your Store to the keywords users might enter when searching for the types of items that you're selling. This increases your Store's chances of appearing in their search results. Include these keywords in your Store name, Store category names, and/or the content on your custom pages.

  • Include your listings in product search engines.
Arrange to have your Store Inventory items appear on shopping comparison Web sites. Set up partnerships with these sites and export a feed of all your Store listings to enable your partners to access up-to-date information about your listings.

  • Register your domain name
Create a Store URL that's easy for buyers to remember by registering a domain name (for example, www.fancyclocks.com). Buyers who go to your domain name will be automatically forwarded to your Store's home page.
