For the health and safety of eBay users and to encourage compliance with applicable laws, eBay has instituted several rules relating to sales of medical devices on our site. eBay allows the sale of most prescription medical devices, but requires sellers of medical devices that require a prescription for distribution to the public to strictly follow certain rules when listing such items on eBay.

The sale or supply of any optical appliance is prohibited in Malaysia, unless the sale is effected by or under the supervision of a medical practitioner or a registered person or that, the sale is made to: ·
a medical practitioner or a registered person
a manufacturer of or dealer in optical appliances
any authority or person responsible for the management of –
(i) a hospital;
(ii) a clinic;
(iii) a nursing home; or
(iv) any other institution which provides medical or surgical treatment
(v) to a government department; or
(vi) for the purpose of its export.
“optical appliance" means an appliance designed to correct, remedy or relieve any refractive abnormalities or optical defects of sight. For more information please refer to the Optical Act 1991.
The sale of any drug in a pharmaceutical dosage or cosmetics is strictly prohibited in Malaysia unless the product is a registered product and the seller holds the appropriate licence from the Drug Control Authority of the Ministry of Health. For more information, please see the Control of Drugs and Cosmetic Regulations 1984.
It is an offence to deal in, possess or dispose of any radioactive material, nuclear material, prescribed substance or irradiating apparatus for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, unless he is the holder of a valid licence from the Ministry of Health. Such licences are only issued to a registered medical practitioner, registered veterinary surgeon, radiologist, radiotherapist or registered dentist. eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since the sale of prescription medical devices is regulated, sellers must follow the steps outlined in the Additional Information section before they can list such medical devices on eBay.
