Drugs And Drug Paraphernalia

Narcotics, steroids or other controlled drugs may not be listed on eBay. It is an offense to traffic in, offer to traffic in, or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a dangerous drug in Malaysia. Import into or export from Malaysia of a dangerous drug is an offense unless it has been done as permitted by the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Drug paraphernalia may not be listed on eBay. Such paraphernalia includes (a) any equipment, materials or substances useful for manufacturing dangerous drugs and (b) any and all items that are intended for the smoking, administration or consumption of a dangerous drug. It is an offense to possess any pipe or other utensil for use in connection with the smoking of prepared opium, cannabis, cannabis resin and substances of which such resin forms the base or any utensil used in the preparation of opium cannabis, cannabis resin and substances of which such resin forms the base for smoking or consumption in Malaysia.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Loss of eBay fees

  • Limits placed on account privileges

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Account suspension

Some Examples

Dangerous drug examples (banned):

  • Amphetamine, cannabis, morphine [including all substances and products listed in the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Items intended for the smoking, administration or consumption of a dangerous drug (banned):

  • Any pipes, syringe, utensil, apparatus or other article intended for the smoking, administration or consumption of a drug.

Drug paraphernalia examples (permitted):

  • Products traditionally intended for use with tobacco products, including pipes made from briar, clay, corncob, meerschaum or similar materials.

Why does eBay have this policy?

eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since the sale of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia is prohibited by law, regulated or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers may not list them on eBay.
